Our Journey

I know I’ve been gone forever. We are finally moved in and have all of our utilities turned on. We had quite a bit of drama with the internet hence the reason I’ve been M.I.A.

I’m here today to post an update of the guest bathroom and how the decor came out.

You can go back look at the inspiration post for the decor here:

The Guest Restroom

Hello!!

Here are some quick pictures I took of our kitchen last night after I got the last load into the dishwasher.

We got the keys!

So we are about 90% moved in. Pictures to follow soon.

MOVING!!!

ACK!!! We move in one day people! Friday is the big day and guess what everything is not yet packed!!! Don’t be alarmed that is my M.O. I hate packing and always leaving for the last possible minute and then just dump everything in a box :/

Wish me luck!!

Here are some of the items we purchased for the patio/pool.

Since we are having the joint bash soon we wanted to make sure there were enough activities for everyone the day of the party.

Also our local Garden Ridge was having 50% clearance on a lot of their patio items which made buying the items much easier.

So we picked up some much needed patio items such as patio chairs and some smaller tables/stools that kids can use.

We also found a patio table at Ikea the other weekend on clearance. If you haven’t realized yet but clearance is my best friend.

The thing I’m most excited about is the new digital camera we purchased which is up to 16 ft waterproof. So that means we get to take great pictures underwater in the pool!

I’m back to update who ever actually comes here on what we’ve purchased so far for the living room.

I have a picture of our couch it isn’t the best because of the odd light in our current living room.

So when we were at Ikea the other weekend we picked up quite a few things for different rooms in the new house.

There are still missing pieces of color and textures that I want to add to the room because currently it’s just different shades of brown and it needs a pop of color.

We also got lucky at Best Buy yesterday and found a 50” Plasma TV on clearance and we saved a few hundred dollars on a new tv for our living room.

We also read up and found out about the Logitech Revue (googletv) and saw that the price had just dropped a couple hundred dollars so we went ahead and purchased one also.

We got more stuff

So call me crazy but we move on the 9th of September and then my 32nd birthday is on the 15th of September (Happy Mexican Independence Day!) so that means we will be throwing a joint Housewarming/B-Day bash on the 17th of September. Yes, you read that right 7 days after we move in I will be having a party and inviting friends and family over to come INTO our house which I’m praying will be presentable.
So we the good thing is that Chris has a pretty awesome schedule he is off wed, fri and sat so it will give us a bit of extra time to put the house together. Also, my cable won’t be on until my birthday so that also gives me just under a week in the house with no cable & internet. Which means in order to keep from going crazy I will be unpacking and organizing the house.
So we’ve been throwing around ideas on how to decorate and theme this joint party. I wanted something simple yet fun and that would work on multiple levels. First level being that Chris doesn’t eat meat; he will eat seafood on occasion so I had to make sure the food would work for him also.
Then it hit me why not a Fiesta theme. Yes, this will work! Ran it by Chris and he agreed it would be good. So we are going to have a quesadilla buffet. I’m going to make shrimp in one crock pot and shredded chicken in the other. Then we will have different types of cheese and salsas as well as guacamole and sour cream. I’m also going to saute onions and mushrooms. Can’t forget the re-fried beans!
I’m so excited about the buffet set up and how nice it will all look and how easy it will be since I don’t have to spent 90% of the party in the kitchen cooking. Almost everything can be made ahead of time and then come party time I can just put it on the buffet table. We will have an electric griddle so that everyone can make their own favorite quesadilla. This will also be a hit with  the kids.
Don’t worry I’ll make sure to take ton’s of pictures and post them.

Here are a few more things I’ve purchased for the new place. A few months back I purchased the Rachael Ray Cookware Set with the orange accent color. So since we are moving and I want to add to my kitchen set being that before it was more of a college set. Nothing matched, it wasn’t the best quality.

So I found some really good deals on the above items. I love that they will all coordinate.

Our kitchen cabinets and counter tops are dark almost mahogany colored so the bright orange will be great to spice up and lighten up the galley style kitchen.

Can’t wait to show you pictures once it’s all set up.

I would like a dramatic dining room; the color of the dining room table is the same color as the granite and cabinets in the kitchen.

So I’m hoping to pull the colors from the kitchen into dining room and then expand on them. I might want to add some wall paper also for a more dramatic feeling.

Lease is signed

So we offically signed the lease tonight and we get the keys Sept 8th.

After signing the lease we stopped by bed bath and beyond and walked through we left with one piece of art work and a really nice shower head for our master bathroom.

I did learn one thing while walking through the store, Chris and I have totally opposite taste. This decorating process is going to be interesting.

Pics to follow soon.
